Description

The Semi-Automatic Ground Environment, or SAGE, was the nation’s first air defense system and was the impetus for the establishment of Lincoln Laboratory. One of these 20 facilities were built by the Department of Defense at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base, which is now known as Sawyer Airport and Industrial Park.

The USAF built this building in the late 1950’s and 1960’s to house the first radar tracking, networked computer system built by IBM and MIT.  The USAF recognized the necessity to protect the SAGE facilities from attack and constructed this three-story, 120,000 square foot bunker building to withstand the destructive forces from a thermonuclear attack with EMP protection.

The walls are 10” reinforced poured concrete lined with 8” CMU block. It is approximately 120,819 sf with a basement, three floors and a penthouse. AT&T is the sole tenant occupying approximately 2,300 sf facility POP. It can provide the perfect, ultra secure environment for grow operations and secure storage of precious items or cash.
